How Much Money Does The Hydraulic Press Make On YouTube?
Lauri Vuohensilta of Finland has made waves online since he first started using his 100-ton hydraulic press at his family's machining shop. By using YouTube as his medium for his artistic expression and his immense popularity with viewers around the globe, he has found immense satisfaction pulverizing various items with it.
Vuohensilta and Anni jointly run the Hydraulic Press Channel out of Tampere, Finland. Their videos showcase them using hydraulic presses to crush various objects into scrap, such as Lego cars, an iPhone 7, hockey pucks and video game consoles - each video receiving over 2 to 4 million views! Ads placed around these videos generate revenue for them as does licensing their content through one company that represents them.
The Vuohensiltas have also created a secondary channel called Beyond the Press where they post videos unrelated to their hydraulic press, such as preparation work for press videos, machine breakdowns at their shop, outings with friends or videos documenting daily life. Furthermore, both partners share an interest in strength training as competitive powerlifters.
Due to this reason, the channel is popular with men and women of all ages - particularly younger audiences. Since appearing on Reddit, viewing numbers have surged exponentially - growing subscriber counts by almost 400,000 subscribers and views by over 3 million in just 30 days!
Vuohensilta credits his success to watching objects explode in a press, his hilarious English accent (often mispronounced by viewers), and making jokes with his wife. Furthermore, his videos differ from others by showing all aspects of production rather than simply the end product.

Five years ago, Finnish couple Lauri and Anni Vuohensilta began using the hydraulic press in their family shop to crush various objects - creating their own YouTube genre and amassing millions of subscribers across major platforms in the process. On a video call callback they discussed what their favorite things were to pulverize, why people are drawn to their channel, and how Lauri's delightful accent sets it apart from "life hack"-style channels that followed its success.
Hydraulic Press Channel (HPC) videos demonstrate the impact of hydraulic presses on items such as sponges, rubber band balls, crayons and even real human teeth. Each video begins with a black-and-white shot of the machine set against classic rock music played through Thor's Hammer; then Vuohensilta will voice-over introduce what will be destroyed before starting his destruction spree!
Vuohensilta told Business Insider he established his channel after becoming fascinated with other YouTube channels that focus on breaking objects, like Will It Blend and Red Hot Nickel Ball. But he never expected his channel would become such an instantaneous success: within weeks of its debut video "Can You Fold Paper More than Seven Times?" going viral on Reddit it had over one million views within days!
The Vuohensiltas have launched a second YouTube channel called Beyond the Press where they post videos unrelated to their hydraulic press. Videos posted include footage of actual jobs completed for clients, preparation work for pressing videos, and even some "vloggy"-type clips - such as Anni stuffing large silicone boobs into her shirt which gets crushed in their hydraulic press! Nevertheless, they make every effort not to damage anything that may impact their business -- not only because it costs money but also because doing so would likely result in lost money but because doing so would pose health and safety risks as well.
