Hydraulic Press for Gearbox Repair
time:2023-04-02 views:(点击 967 次)Hydraulic presses are a ubiquitous piece of machinery in the manufacturing industry. They're useful for numerous tasks such as bending, forming and flanging metal components.
However, hydraulic presses can malfunction and lead to productivity losses if not used properly. In this article, we'll cover some of the most common issues that could affect a hydraulic press and how you can avoid them from occurring in the first place.
Straightening
Hydraulic presses are commonly employed in automotive repair shops to straighten shafts and sleeve parts.
A hydraulic press operates by using a small slave cylinder that transfers force through fluid to an expansive master cylinder. The amount of pressure transmitted depends upon the size of piston areas in both cylinders - one small in each, and one large.
Under pressure, the fluid inside a slave cylinder contracts and that in the master cylinder expands, compressing and reshaping material. The hydraulic press can be used to work with various materials such as metals and others with various hardness levels.
The mechanical method of straightening a shaft does not require heat, making it suitable for more varieties of shaft materials than the spot-heating method can accommodate. Once corrections have been made, let the shaft cool completely before making further measurements or corrections.
Separating Corrosion
The hydraulic press may not be the first tool you think of when it comes to automotive repairs, but it can actually be quite useful. It helps separate rusted parts, straighten bent ones and compress unwanted materials without damaging them.
No matter the source of corrosion - gearboxes, exhaust sections, steering linkages - hydraulic presses can help get things back together quickly. This is because corrosion causes metal to chemically restructure, changing its shape so parts no longer adhere together by rusty bonds.
To accomplish this task, you'll require a separating device that is resistant to the abrasion and erosion of sand and other materials. Ideally, use a hard material like SSiC or boron carbide that has excellent corrosion-resistance in case you use treatment fluids during flushing out the machine or stimulating the well. Furthermore, this material has high hardness levels due to its resistance against sand particles.
Freeing Rusted Components
A hydraulic press can free a stubborn nut from its bolt, making it an invaluable tool for gearbox repair technicians. This device utilizes Pascal's law to generate tremendous force.
It consists of two cylinders--a smaller slave cylinder and a larger master cylinder. The smaller cylinder applies pressure to the fluid inside, which is then transferred via piston into the larger cylinder.
The resultant force is truly remarkable.
It's worth noting that a hydraulic press requires special maintenance requirements. These include regular cleaning and lubrication to keep the cylinders functioning optimally, as well as using a rust inhibitor to prevent corrosion from starting in the first place. If your machine has an issue with its hydraulic line, be sure to fix it promptly; doing so could reduce spilled oil hazards to anyone involved.
Rebuilding
A hydraulic press is a useful tool that can assist with rebuilding gearboxes. It operates by using two cylinders with pistons on top, which move back and forth while an adhesive liquid fills the space between them.
As the bottom piston moves, it presses down on the fluid in the cylinder to transfer pressure up through to the upper one. This action ultimately pushes whatever is underneath into shape.
Hydraulic presses are commonly found in industrial shops and workshops as they can exert tremendous force on items. These machines are especially beneficial when hammering or shaping steel or iron.
They're ideal for working on gearboxes that are too heavy to be handled manually, such as swing gearboxes. In the video below, our parts technician uses an assistive lift crane to move each component part from its gearbox.
