A manometer measures this pressure being applied; additionally, manual control valves can block or divert oil flow to adjust force being applied by hydraulic pistons.
Velocity
Hydraulic presses use incompressible fluid, typically oil, to increase force application. By transferring energy through friction within the fluid and between components within the press, energy loss occurs - which when converted to heat can damage parts or cause them to break down or deform altogether. To minimize energy loss in each cycle, hydraulic systems should be designed in such a way as to limit how much is lost with each cycle.
