Which Oil is Used in Hydraulic Press?
time:2023-04-09 views:(点击 732 次)Hydraulic presses are essential tools in many industrial processes, from the shaping and creating of machine components to crushing and compacting waste. They're typically constructed out of metal that can be deformed using hydraulic pressure.
Due to this, it is essential that hydraulic press oil remains free from particles and oxidation residues. Doing so guarantees a longer lifetime for hydraulic components, reduces maintenance expenses, and avoids unexpected breakdowns.
Mineral Oil
Mineral oil is a colorless and odorless petroleum-derived oil used in hydraulic presses. It also serves to remove gum and wax from hair as well as soothe skin irritations like diaper rash.
Hydraulic fluid, or hydraulic oil as it's often referred to, is a non-compressible fluid used in hydraulic machinery and equipment for power transfer purposes. It can be made up of either mineral or synthetic base oils.
Water was originally the original hydraulics fluid, but due to its high corrosive properties it was replaced by mineral oil in the 1920s. Nowadays most hydraulic fluids are mineral-based; however some natural oils and synthetics may still be employed as base stocks for specialty applications like fire resistance or extreme temperature conditions.
Synthetic Oil
Synthetic oil is a lubricant made from chemical processes. Polyalphaolefins (PAOs) and esters have many of the same characteristics as crude oil without some of its drawbacks, such as low viscosity and oxidation resistance.
Hydraulic systems filled with fully synthetic fluids can last much longer than their mineral oil counterparts due to oxidation caused by exposure to combustion byproducts, fuel, water contamination, metal particles and acids. This leads to sludge accumulation, varnish deposits, corrosion, viscosity change and impaired engine performance.
Conversely, fully synthetic fluids contain modern antioxidants derived from phenols, amines or salicylates that make them highly resistant to acidic conditions. Furthermore, these fluids have a lower reactivity with oxygen at higher operating temperatures, thus increasing service life.
Vegetable Oil
Vegetable oil is a type of cooking oil made from plants and seeds that can be used in place of lard or animal-based oils.
Vegetable oils are a versatile type of oil that can be used for frying, baking and even salad dressings. Unfortunately, it's not always the healthiest choice when it comes to diets.
Producing vegetable oil is a complex process, involving multiple steps to guarantee its purity and lack of impurities or other undesirable elements. These steps include bleaching, deodorizing and refining.
Vegetable oils are sourced from various sources, with soy and sunflower seed oils being the most popular options. Rape seed (canola) oil also makes for excellent hydraulic fluid applications due to its high oleic acid content which keeps it resistant to oxidation.
Phosphate Ester
Phosphate ester is a synthetic base stock designed to offer the high temperature and fire hazard properties necessary for hydraulic equipment. These non-aqueous phosphate esters have proven to be the most fire resistant of all synthetic base stocks due to their high ignition temperatures, excellent oxidation stability and low vapor pressures.
Fire-retardant fluids (FRFs) are used in Electro-Hydraulic Control (EHC) systems where close proximity of hydraulic systems to steam turbines, boiler manifolds and compressors makes them essential for safety.
Modern phosphate ester fluids are treated with ion-exchange media to control acidity and corrosion. This technology eliminates multiple degradation compounds, such as stronger acids (phosphoric acid derivatives), weaker acids (alkylphenols), organic soluble varnish, metal soaps and polyphosphate gels. Furthermore, ion exchange technology can restore a fluid's resistivity back to original levels, making it an ideal choice for acid reduction applications.
